Perfect Circles

I wanted my appliqued circles on my "Noelle Table topper"
to be perfectly round so I cheated and stitched
light weight iron on interfacing to them.....
You need to keep the right side of the fabric and the shiny side of
the interfacing together and stitch around the drawn line......
Trim and turn right side out and finger press around the curved edge....
This gives you a perfect circle with all edges enclosed that
can then be ironed to the base of the table topper....

I repeated the process with the pieced centre....
I love the look of needle turn but get frustrated if I
can't get a nice line so I think this is a great solution.....
I then ironed the 3 layers together.....
I now just need to finish stitching them down....
 Until next time, Happy Stitching

Stitching Round in Circles....

Well one circle would be enough
but I am not there just yet.....*Grin*
There is a huge amount of stitching in this project.....
I am glad that it is stitched in only one colour....

This is what I made for Peg.....

I can now reveal what I sent to Peg for the
 "Spring Once a Season Swap"....

I made this pair of table toppers for Peg.....
They would be great on the table with a vase of flowers on them.....
Or the smaller of the two could be used as a placemat.....
I used gingham binding to keep with the table cloth feel....
It was fun to participate in this swap and I hope
Peg likes her gift as much as I liked making it for her.....

I stitched this label to the back of the large topper......
I just had a lovely email from Peg and
"Good News" Peg loves them.....

Tis the Season Borders and.....A PROBLEM!

I was excited to be cutting up my fabrics for borders
and bindings as I could see a finish in site....
Here they are all ready to go....
So I set about sewing the borders on......
Gave it a good iron and laid it out to photograph.....
 Can you spot my problem!!!!!!!
Here it is....The Santa's boots outer border
just melts into the inner border....Argh!!!!!
So I now have a date with the dreaded unpicker.....
So do you know where this one is going?
That's right to the bottom of the list.....
Shhhh...Don't tell Chooky.....

Started "The Florist"

I have started work on "The Florist" Block.....
I have changed the roof sign, I will stitch the word Florist on it.....
I have also added a handle to the flower cart and a round wheel.....
I will buy some wool felt for the flowers and I will also
stitch some fabric ones instead of the rose buds ....
I also think I might have apples in the tree as I would like
the wool felt to blend with the Wild Rose fabrics....
Until next time, Happy Stitching

"Noelle Table Topper" & some Spring Sun.....

I managed to get a small amount of stitching done on my
 "Noelle Tabletopper" over the weekend.....
I was out in the sun admiring the Spring colour that is popping up around
my garden and considered (only for a moment) to do some weeding.....
Instead I decided to let the girls out of here.....
They had a lovely time scratching around
the garden while I sat stitching.....
This is Harriet....
 Georgina and Prudence......
 And Muriel.....
No weeds were harmed in this outing (Except the ones the girls pecked)
but I managed to get this much stitching done....
I am a bit over a quarter of the way there.....
I hope you all managed some stitching time on the weekend...
Until next time, Happy Stitching....

"My Keeper Of All Things Lovely"

This is my project from Jukejema Retreat designed by Natalie Ross....
The binding fabric that I was waiting on arrived on Thursday morning..
It was my day off so I spent the best part of it in my sewing room.....
The original pattern from Natalie Ross was
hemmed but I decided to bind mine like a quilt.....
So after a bit of hand stitching in front of the TV.... A Finish.....
Block Keeper Front Cover.....
Back Cover....
 Inside Lining and Pockets....
I also decided to add an extra page of wadding.....
And 2 little ties to keep it all tidy......
I have already put it to good use.....
The "My Garden" blocks look right at home....

I now have 2 Finishes from Retreat.....
Janelle and Natalie....Still working on Annies'.....
Until next time, Happy Stitching

New Ruler

I treated myself to a new ruler this week....
My biggest was 12 1/2 inch square and
I needed bigger than that for "My Town" Blocks....
So a bit of trimming blocks was in order......
 Nice 14 1/2 inch squares....
5 finished and now to make a start on "The Florist"
before the September issue arrives in the post.....
Until next time, Happy Stitching

My Town School Finished

This has been a marathon block......
I can happily say that it is finished and all the students have shoes!
(Insert a bit of a happy dance here)
I used the cord for the arms but have
stitched their little legs and shoes.....
I didn't really like the idea of all those buttons....
Not sure if they are smiling because they are
going to class or out for lunch....*Grin*....
That is 5 completed blocks for me....
Until next time, Happy Stitching
