Floors are in....let the fun Begin!

Hi everyone, time to share the next step of my "Sewing Studio"

The floor went down yesterday and my oh my hasn't the old

lino come a long way, it looks great and is soft under foot.....

And I have a 5.3 metre long roll leftover that was an

off cut from the side to cut up for chair mats etc....

So after an extra long day at work yesterday, I arrived

 home at 7.40pm and went straight out and gave it a sweep

 over with the broom and moved a few things in....

I constructed my Daybed and moved the 2 bookshelves

 in that will be the 2 ends of my cutting table....

Was having lots of fun and was going to move my Horne sewing cabinet in next but was getting a bit weary and invaded by bugs by this stage because I had left the door open whilst moving everything in so thought it best to do that in the daylight.....

A top for the cutting table is next on the to do list and then

 a corner bench  in the back corner where the roll of leftover

 lino is for my sewing machine and overlocker....

I will use my Horne sewing cabinet until then but

want to construct some sort of nice white bench....

I can feel a trip to Ikea in the school holidays coming on for

some sort of storage cupboard for the other corner and some

shelves for the side wall above my machines....

I want to get it mostly decked out before I move my stash

 out there or it will be like a builders house

and probably never get finished....Lol

The jury is still out at the moment for the window

and door coverings...Watch this space!

I purchased these 2 sheets of polystyrene wall insulation

the other day, these will be transformed into my

design wall....OMG Can you feel me smiling!!!!!

It will be HUGE!!!!

The floors are actually lighter than the pictures and the white

 and cream colourings are more prominent than the grey....

They look fantastic....

SIGH.....Wish I could have stayed and played all day....

Great news....My vinyl floor is being laid in my studio today!

Mojo

My Mojo popped in last night for a visit

 to help me work on my SSCS....

I must say I enjoyed her company immensely and

 was thinking how many things we could

 have achieved if she had been around all year.....

I think she may have heard I have a nice new

 "Sewing Studio" that we can play in soon....

I sure hope she sticks around this time....

The good news is my little Machine "Bernie" still sews

like a dream and yes I can still sew a straight line....He He...

Can't show you what we were working on yet as it is a secret...

Secret Sewing

A bit of Secret Sewing happening at my house tonight....

What a mess spread all over the kitchen table....

It was nice to dig into some boxes and find things

 I forgot I had, so many projects and so little time.....

I also spent some time out in my "Studio" last night and tonight painting the backing board that will go on the bookcase that will make up one end of my cutting table.....

My builder cut it from a spare piece of the wall paneling, the other end will go against the wall so it will not need a backing board like this one, might get to screw it on tomorrow night....Yay!

Well off to do some sewing, have a lovely evening all....

Flooring Ordered

After many samples, sessions on the internet and trips to the flooring shops I have decided that laying a floor for people to walk all over is an expensive job.....

At the rate I was going I could have made a

patchwork floor with all of my samples :)

I had been playing with the idea of vinyl planks so I could lay them myself and keep the cost down but I have been advised not to go with that idea due to Oranges extreme temperatures. None of them are guaranteed not to expand and contract and I really didn't want to go ta all that trouble to have little gaps for pins and thread to be trapped in. So I ended up choosing this sheet vinyl below that comes with installation included, it is actually a bit lighter in real life and I think it will give the room a light airy feel....

What do you think?

I've ordered it today and it will take 7 to 10 days to come in and

 will be installed no later than Friday the 21st of November....

2 weeks and counting....

I had better get busy building that cutting table

 and benches for my machines now....

Not sure if I will ever get in here to sew!!!!!!

My goal was by to be all set up by Christmas at the latest with a BIG hope that it would be a lot sooner than that so I guess I shouldn't complain....

Can't wait to share the final reveal!!!!!

365 Days a Year Comfort

Unwrapped this last night....

Took the last pic of my bare wall....

Got out my drill and installed the bracket for my remote....

Called in the professionals to take care of the rest....

Came home from work to find my split system installed and

ready to go for year round comfort in my "Sewing Studio"...

Didn't get a winner in the cup, actually one of the horses

I drew in a sweep came last so I got my money back....

But feeling like a winner this afternoon when I came home

 and checked out the Studio progress....

Flooring to go girls and then move in time....Yay!

Paintwork Complete

Another update on my "Sewing Studio"

 I am pleased to be able to say that all the painting

 is complete and it looks so good.......Yay!

The windows can do with a good clean and will

get one before I start moving things in.....

My cutting bench will come out under the larger window

 and my machines will go on a corner bench

 in the corner under the small window.....

A storage cupboard will go on the right at the end of the studio....

And can you picture a lovely big design wall right here.....I can!

Ok enough dreaming and down to some decision making....

These are some samples of vinyl flooring planks....

At this stage I am swaying toward the one on the left in the

picture below, it looks like lime washed rustic boards

and is a loose lay vinyl product that I will be installing

 myself, Just like a big patchwork floor.....I hope....

I am waiting on a couple more samples to arrive tomorrow

and then I can finally decide and place an order,

 you know what I will be doing next weekend.....

It is a tad bit overwhelming that I am almost at the move in/decorating stage, at times I didn't think I was ever going to get there but OMG Ladies it's all happening....

I think I might just sit in here all day and smile....LOL!

My Beautiful Tree is Dying

This tree is to the West of the back of my house and I just

love the shade that it provides for me in the Summer....

I even love raking up the masses of Autumn leaves

 that it drops, the colours are so pretty.....

Sadly I have raked up my last Autumn leaves from

 this tree because it is dying from the roots up....

"The Tree Surgeon" has made a house call and confirmed

 my worst fears that it has to be removed....

He is as baffled as I am as to why it has started to die

and we don't want to take any chances that it may fall

on my House or my sewing Studio so in the next

 few weeks it will be removed....

It is going to leave a very bare patch in my back

yard and I am devastated to say the least.....

They say from all endings come new beginnings so

I will have to plan a new project to fill the void eventually....

Just kidding you know I love you.....

Well here goes girlfriend....

Hi my name is Kate and I live in Orange so I won't have far to travel to the Blog Meet, which is a nice change because I grew up in Cobar and going anywhere always meant endless hours in the car travelling. So lucky for me I am one of the close ones and will be heading down after I finish work at 4pm on the Friday. I am super excited to see everyone old and new and can't wait to have a 2 night slumber party with a great bunch of like minded girls.....My blog is called "Kate Show and Tell" for those of you who don't already know me

Blogging and Sewing has been on the back burner for me as of late so I am really excited about having a play with some fabric when we get there. My craftiness has been taken up with yarn from the gorgeous Jody at Jellywares so there has been stitching happening of a different kind. I also am in the process of setting up my very own "Sewing Studio" so that has also taken up a lot of my time as well. Great things will happen in there soon I promise!!!!

How many of you will be jealous if I turn up wearing a pair of these babies, I found them on facebook the other day and just had to pinch the picture for this very post....

I also have another distraction, my little home based market stall business "Pickled on Peisley" this also takes up a lot of my time. A lot of you have sampled my wares and I will include a list at the end of this post for anyone who would like to email me and place an order. Some things I have low stocks of but if orders are in early I will do my best to have them ready to bring along to you. This little venture is helping me to save a little bit to do projects around my little house and garden....

Cotton Washers

Today I am going to show you some cotton washers

that I have been knitting to use as sweet

 little gifts for some friends....

Such a nice gift with a lovely cake of

 soap from the Frenche Shoppe....

This simple diagonal washer was knitted

 using Patons 8 ply Blend....

And this cute little textured on was knitted

with the remainder of the Patons yarn.....

This sweet butterfly one was knitted using the softest

Debbie Bliss DK Cotton that I purchased from

Jody at "Jellywares on Marshall"

A new little addiction for me....

Painting in the Studio

More progress in my "Sewing Studio" this week....

The plasterer finally finished after being called away and

 then sadly his wife passing away as well....

I decided that there is only one of me and painting would take

 me a few weeks with working full time so I called on my painter

 who came around on Sunday afternoon and had a look ....

Luckily for me he said he could start the very next day so without

 thinking about the cost I said great lets do it!

The wall colour is very similar to the undercoat that was already

on the panelling so that will make for a quick finish I hope.....

It will be nice to have it all completed this weekend instead

 of me just starting to putty up the holes.....

Nice crisp white ceiling and Hogs Bristle half strength for the

 walls and quarter strength for all the trims....

This is how it looks with one coat on the ceiling and walls...

Yay! It's getting there....Insert Happy dance here.....

Weeding Weekend

Still no sewing at number 81 but lots of work going on.....

My yard had gotten away on me over the last 12 months with commencing full time work, doing extra casual days at the other schools, a part time job for a term and starting my little market business "Pickled on Peisley.....

I feel tired just thinking about all of that....

I have been in my little Home with the BIG yard for about 20 months now and have had many projects on the go with my quest for a low maintenance weed free yard!

This was my project last weekend, two full days out in the dirt with my 3 chickens by my side to keep me company......

Tired and aching on Sunday I gave myself

a pat on the back for a job well done.....

Most of the weeds cleared and a few unwanted

 plants dug out and rehomed...

I now have a nice blank canvas to work with....

This was my pile on Saturday evening...

 I was far too tired and over it to even take a photo Sunday

 so you can only imagine how high it was......

For a long time all I could see were the endless list of projects

 and jobs ahead of me but finally I am starting to look back

 and smile at where all my hard work has gotten me....

Gotta love a cute bunting blowing in the breeze :)

Once my Sewing Studio is complete I will have ne excuses...

It won't happen overnight but it will happen...eventually!

Spring Yarn Club October

It took me a bit to get going this month with my Yarn Club projects, I started using my 4 ply cotton to make a skinny scarf but wasn't really feeling it so I pulled it out...

I then chose to do the coaster pattern that Jodie had suggested but was going to make it bigger to put in the centre of my table with a vase on it. I got this far but wasn't really feeling it with this project either so I pulled it out again....

I finally decided to make these cute little bunting flags....

My pile grew bigger as my yarn ball grew smaller...

And here they are strung across me bed head.....

So simple and just a bit cute....

I do and there are so many ways we can play with it...

Next project a washer made from a lovely shade of

 pink/melon to finish up October's instalment....

Chooky's SSCS 2014

Hi there Blogland, I have signed up fo Chooky's SSCS and I am excited about putting together a nice gift for my partner who lives way way over there......???

I wonder who will be sending to me this year?

If you are reading this and have been snooping on my blog I am sorry that there have not been a lot of sewing/quilting posts of late. Once my little "Sewing Studio" is finished and I move all my sewing stuff out there I will have no excuse for my lack of stitching. Until then you will have to snoop back to 2011/2012 etc to see the things that I like to make. Looking forward to seeing all the lovely gifts this year and thanks again to Chooky for organising us.....

My Jacky Mister is commencing his HSC Exams today.....

Glad it is him and not me, there is so much pressure on them...

It is pouring rain and thundery here today, a perfect day for stitching but sadly it is work for me.....
