Mayfield Garden Open Day

On Saturday my good friend Carole and I had a day out at Mayfield Garden near Oberon NSW.....
Carol lives in Narromine and came and stayed with me for 2 nights.....
It was a really warm sunny day and we walked non stop
around the gardens for 2 and a half hours....
It was amazing and needs to be seen to be believed....
Mayfield is a privately owned property and the
owners have six open weekends per year.....
3 in Autumn and 3 in Spring......
They are still adding more gardens and features and the plan is that there will be 36 acres of garden when the project is complete.....
There are lots of pics as I couldn't decide which ones not to use.....

Here we are in the Water Garden......

This is "The Copper Tree".....
A water feature made from copper that had
 water trickling from the branches.....
Fantastic!!!!
These are pics of the Garden Rooms, Croquet Field,
 Rose Garden and Formal areas.....

This the view down over a part of the gardens from
 "The Chapel" on the hill....
The Chapel was built so the owners daughter could have her wedding
there in April 2010 and is only to be used for family occasions.....

This is a picture of Carole and June admiring the interior.....
The Main House was as beautiful and
 extravagant as The Gardens....
It has a water fall that cascades down
the hill to the back of the house....
To the left is the vegetable garden and right The Hen Houses...

These fig trees have been trained around these arch ways...
Everything was so neatly done and immaculate....
This is part of the front of the house and the side part of the
indoor pool, BBQ area and Tennis Courts....
As you can imagine by now we were extremely jealous!!!!!

There is also a maze but it is still under construction....
We had an amazing day and plan to go back to one of the Autumn
weekends to see the difference in color etc....
Until next time, Happy Stitching

What a beautiful garden, looks like it was a great day out for you all. If your garden was that big you'd have no time to sew......
