"Coop de Peisley"

Today I wanted to share my chicken coop with you all....
Isn't it just the cutest thing you have ever seen?
It arrived in the first term school holidays...
It came flat packed with instructions saying it would take
2 people an hour to put together with a screw driver.....
BA HA HA!
It took Jacky Mister and I about 6 hours to construct....
I also made an additional base so it doesn't sit directly on
the ground to prevent it rotting....
I saved the offcuts for stepping stones....
And then the fun began....
Well I was having fun, Jacky Mister on the other hand was
convinced there were better ways for him to be spending his
Saturday but he persevered and under sufferance even let me
get a (Mum do you really have to take my photo) happy snap.....
Easy access for cleaning and collecting eggs....
A few days after Easter the girls moved into their new coop....
Brown New Hampshire- Phyllis
White Leghorn - Mabel
Black Austrolorpe - Mrs McLeod
They should be starting to lay 6 weeks from Easter....
It took them a few days to work out their feeder....
And their drinker....
I was starting to think that due to the cold that I wasn't going to
get any eggs but in the holidays I found my first little egg.....
Phyllis is the first girl on the lay and I hope
the other 2 follow her lead soon....
Bought it inside and sat it on the bench and
when I looked around it was gone!!!!
Oh dear it rolled off and broke.....Wah!
Miss Molly came out to see what all the
commotion was and I looked at her and said
"You have got to be YOLKING!"
You can imagine the fits of laughter we were both in
at this stage but all was better the next day
when I got my second little egg...
Thanks to all of you who stop by and take the time to
read my blog and leave nice comments.....
It truly is nice to share the simple things....
Until next time, Happy Stitching

Kate

All that hard work will be worth it. There's nothing better than fresh eggs from your own chickens. We still haven't replaced ours since a fox took them over two years ago and I certainly miss them One day we'll get our yard fox proofed!
