Finished my Valance

I have finally finished the vlance for my bed......
Was a little tricky where these bars were but
I used some velcro in the end....
It finishes off the look nicely and hides a multitude of
things that I have stored underneath *Grin*
Now for some fun stitching....
Until next time, Happy Stitching

My Hexi's are Quilted!

I have picked up my Hexagon guilt from Belinda
and couldn't wait to show you all.....
She has done an amazing job and I am just a tad excited about
how well the quilting design that I chose has turned out.....

It will be perfect on my bed for Spring.....
I haven't started the binding yet but definitely
have it on the top of my to do list....
I will bind it in the same white fabric
that I used for the border.....
The quilting has hidden my little mistake where I cut the
border in the wrong spot so I am really happy with that.....
It looks like a flower garden and compliments
 my fabrics beautifully....
I will show you another pic when the binding is on.....
Yay!!! Can you tell I am excited! I feel like Big Kev!
Until next time, Happy Stitching

Happy 16th Birthday to my Boy

16 years ago on the 27th of August 1996
God blessed me with this gorgeous little boy.....
Jack Bartholomew Sharpe
My little man.....
He loved to colour code my pins in my pin
cushion when he was a little guy.....
Here he is with his first motor bike trophy....
I am glad he retired from being a bikie when
he grew out of his Pee Wee 50....
The years have flown by far too quickly....
He will always be my little man
even though he now towers over me.....
Happy Birthday Jack xoxox
Until next time, Happy Stitching

State Cup Menai

Last weekend was spent at The State Cup Basketball in Menai....
Jacky Mister plays in the Orange Eagles 18 mens side....
He is number 5 second from left in the front row....
We love our basketball family and are sad to say it is
the end of an era as all the boys are too old
to play again next year except Jack.....
We have had some great weekends with this crew....
Go The Eagles!
This weekend I will be in Newcastle with
Miss Molly at the University open day.....
So not much stitching happening at the moment...
Until next time, Happy Stitching

Friday 24 August 2012

I had a trip to the day surgery on Monday and have spent a
very slow quiet week at home a little sore and uncomfortable..
I also had braces put on my teeth yesterday so it
has been a crappy week to say the least....
These lovely flowers cheered me up along with
some lovely visits from special friends.....
But what cheered me up the most was a text message from
the very clever Belinda Betts from Eucalypt Ridge Quilting.....
My Hexi quilt is ready to be picked up....
Insert a big braces smile and happy dance here!!!!
This is the picture that she sent me....
I will show you some more pics when I pick it up....Yay!
Until next time, Happy Stitching

My Blog in Print....

Parcels are so much fun to recieve especially when you
open them and inside are really cool things like
my first ever "Blog Book" *Grin*
Show & Tell 2011 - Things made by Kate Sharpe

I ordered it online from "Blog to Print"
It was on my doorstep within 2 weeks from America....
I couldn't believe how fast it was....
This is the front cover with a picture of the
quilt shop block from "My Town" quilt.....
And the back cover with a picture of Jacky Mister's flannel quilt.....
Inside the dedication.....To my babies xoxo
It is hard covered and has lots of lovely glossy pages....
Cough! I mean lots...Ha ha.... 357 of them....
Maybe Volume 2 will not be quite so large....

I am feeling a bit proud of myself at the moment and
will be definitely getting Volume 2 for 2012....
Until next time, Happy Stitching

Gathering, Gathering, Gathering!

Lots of gathering and pinning been going on at my house....
I am making a valance for my vintage bed.....
Not bad weather to be cosied up on the
lounge with a pile of fabric in your lap.....
I have the two sides on and am still gathering the bottom and
then it will be hemming, hemming. hemming....ha ha!
Can't wait to get it on my bed....
Until next time, Happy Stitching

My new bed and Fifty

I have been using a lot of my sewing
time reading the Fifty Shades Trilogy.....
I have just started the third book and am enjoying them....
These are the new sheets that I purchased for
a steal from the clearance section at Myer for my
new "Old" wrought iron and brass bed......
They are gorgeous quality....
I got two double sheet sets and a king size
doona cover set for $110 for the lot....About $800 value.....
Only problem is that I wanted a queen doona cover set....
So the first job in my new sewing room was to cut a strip off
the side off the doona cover and stitch it all back up....
And this is how nice and snugly my bed now looks.....
I cant wait to see how good my Hexi quilt will look on here...
I just love it!!!!
I picked up this aqua coverlet at House that looks great with
about 5 of my finished and unfinished quilt tops....
There is a canopy at the head that I am thinking about hanging some
sheer curtains on it but have yet to totally decide on that....
My next job is to make a gathered valance to hide
all the things that I have stored underneath....
I tried to buy one but pleated and quilted were all I could find,
plus it will need to be 50cm's to reach the floor
so I will make it from cream poly cotton...
Until next time, Happy Stitching

Stitching in the car

Just a little bit of stitching whilst sitting in the car
watching Jacky Mister play AFL on Saturday.....
I was working on the trees on my
 "Home" block from "My Town"
Lots more to stitch on this one....
We are off to Sydney this weekend for  State Cup Basketball
so I will hopefully get a bit more completed between games.....
Until next time, Happy Stitching
