My First attempt at Punch Needle

I had been curious about the whole Punch Needle concept.....
So when Annie at "The Home Patch" was running a class I was there.....
After learning the basics I set about punching away and finished up
with this little sewing machine and cotton spools.....
It was much easier than I first thought....
Annie had little kits made up to make this woven wool needle book...
Not bad for my first try.....*Grin*

And this great print with Santa's, Reindeers, Trees and Houses....
It comes in 4 colour ways.....
Sorry Girls but I am just a tad excited
and  had to show you the whole range.....*Grin*
I just love it!
I will be using this to make my "Tis the Season Quilt"
Better go and get cracking as I am way behind.....

Pile of Hexi Blooms

It is quite amazing how quickly this pile has grown......
It may have something to do with the fact
 that I have been  "Hexed"......*Grin*

They sure look pretty all together.....
Usually I get a bit sick of looking at the same project after a while but that has definitely not happened with these little beauties......

Waiting on the Postie...

Look what I ordered yesterday from "Lynette Anderson Designs".....
Pay Pal was playing up so I called directly and was greeted
on the phone by none other than Lynette herself.....
This is a Fat 8th bundle of all 25 of her new range of fabric
 "Scandinavian Christmas"
The pic doesn't do it justice, I will post a better one when it arrives...
It is not available in Australia yet but
Lynette has a limited amount to sell....
I was very excited when I found it on her blog
because I want to use it to make "Tis The Season"...
And it was an added bonus that I got to have a lovely chat with Lynette.....
I will need to order some more for the borders
later when it is available in shops.....

After it arrives I will have to get busy....
Until next time. Happy Stitching

Hearth & Home

Before I left Cobar my friend Suzie and I decided to buy
the patterns for this quilt and start stitching it
so when I moved we could share our journey......
Sadly they didn't even get out of the packet before
we left town and stayed there after we arrived.....

Until one day Suzie rang and suggested we go
 to a retreat at "Ridgecrest"....
So the stash was raided for fabrics and our bags were packed....

We met there on Friday afternoon and joined rows,
pieced and traced and fused all weekend.....
between eating a lot of great food and
partaking in lots of great conversation.....

Our show and tell at the end of the weekend was our
rows so far, pinned to our bed sheets.....*Grin*
Upon returning home the quilt was tucked away yet again.....
Until i finally got it out and finished the top.....
I gave it to "Belinda Betts" to quilt.....
I chose a mustard check flannel to back it with, it is
very snuggly and we use it on the lounge at home every night.....

And not a day goes by that I don't look at it
and think of Suzie and Home.....

Hexagons and More Hexagons

With the help of Jacky Mister I have finally
paired up the second half of my fabrics .......
It was a tedious job as I didn't want to repeat a combination.....
I know what you are thinking......Obsessive Compulsive!
Well you are right *Grin*....
After the decision was finalised I set about gluing......
That's 31 glued and 39 to go.........

I still have a couple of completed rows to join
together so I can get some more papers.....

It is a bit like robbing the rich to give to the poor *Grin*.....

I am very close to being able to say that I have Hexagons in yardage....
It sure feels nice to have them on my lap joined together.....
And so soft with the papers out....

Some Kind of Wonderful

I paid a visit to "The Home Patch" in Bathurst last Thursday....
I took my friend Carolyn and it was her first time.....
It is always great to share such a lovely place with friends....
It was only a matter of time until this came to live in my sewing room....
When will I get to make all of these beauties?

I also purchased a "Fat 8th Pack" of the newest
"French General Fabrics" for a little project I have planned
and will share with you at a later date.....
And some quilting thread as while I was there Annie convinced
me that it was a good idea to quilt "A Christmas Story" by hand...
What was I thinking.......*Grin*

All in all a great day out......

Table Quilt

I made this quilt for our new table......
That's when it was new of course.......
We purchased it for our new home in Orange.....

I used a printed panel and also purchased some matching prints to make up the log cabin blocks.....

I pieced it in Cobar and after moving to Orange
Belinda Betts from "Eucalypt Ridge Quilting"quilted it for me........

She did a great job.......

Great country colours that I am very partial to.....

Teddy

I made this little Sweetie many years ago in Cobar
at a shop that my friend Ann Wright owned.....
The shop is long gone but I still have my Teddy......
She sits on my bedhead and watches over me while I sleep....
I particularly liked the embroidery and
 prairie points on her dress...*Grin*.

Stitched Hexi's....

I have been busy cutting lots of these from pelon......

And ironing them on the back of these........

Then I chose some co-ordinating threads from by box......

And started stitching these........

I have finished two rows and joined them together so
now I am stitching the ones between the rows.....

They look really sweet....

And the colour combinations are endless.....
I am freeing up some of my papers for the next lot of blooms....

It will be a good way to use up some DMC threads.....
Until next time, Happy Stitching
