Studio Storage

Wow last day of November already. Where has 2014 gone I ask you? Today I wanted to share some more of my Sewing Studio progress with you. I had previously planned to take a trip to Ikea and buy a white storage cupboard of some description to use in my Studio because I wanted a crisp white interior that was light and airy. Well the rustic girl in me came up with this idea, This 1920's dresser that I absolutely adore has been in my kitchen/dining room, I could do with some more space in there but did not want to part with my beloved dresser. I decided if this fitted then it was moving out to the Studio and Wallah! Fits perfectly and doesn't seem to make the space dark at all. I am so loving how it looks and am now sorting through my stash and having a good clean out before I fill it up. 3 weeks until school holidays(which I am lucky to get with my job) and then I can stay and play in there all day...
My storage tubs slide in perfectly as well so I will have easy
access to my fabrics and other bits and pieces once they are
sorted into some sort of order....LOL
I work well with order!
I still have a monster design wall to create and need to decide
on what to put on the windows and sliding door....
I am having lots of fun creating my special little Happy Place..
Until next time, Happy Stitching

Studio Ironing Board

I took a little detour on the way home from Perthville last Sunday, I called into Masters to pick up another 5 storage baskets to go into the end of my cutting table. One end is now full and I am saving my pennies to get some more for the other end eventually. After all a girl can never have enough storage....

Meanwhile back at the "Studio" Kylie was being
very cheeky indeed posing on the day bed...
I had a real belly laugh when I got a message on
Facebook and this cheeky pic popped up...
Come back anytime Kylie....
I arrived home and unpacked the car and of cause with new
storage baskets for inspiration and a split system to keep me
cool I decided to have a bit of a play in the Studio....
I got my tools out and began to cover
 my custom made ironing board...
I gave it 2 layers of quilt batting...
Pulled it all nice and tight and used the
staple gun to secure it at the back...

Next a layer of rubber backed calico...
It looks so nice and crisp but I know it will get very
discoloured in no time at all so I will make a fitted
cover from some printed fabric next....
Starting to reap the rewards of the process
that has been my sewing Studio...
A design wall and storage cupboard are still on the agenda...
Oh and lots of cushions for the day bed....
Thanks for stopping by, I truly
love sharing my progress with all of you...

Until next time, Happy Stitching

2014 Bathurst Blog Meet Part 4

This time last week I was super excited about heading off
to Bathurst for the weekend with my Blog buddies.....
This is my final post about the weekend...
I stole this photo from Kylie....
A bit of silliness after our group photo on Sunday morning,
I am not sure who has the nice group photo but
I am sure it will pop up at some time or other....
Morning tea Sunday....
We love you Vicki(Hostess with the Mostess)
Sadly our beloved Peg and Dale couldn't join us for
the weekend and they so generously donated some prizes
for a fun ticket game that we played....
Tickets were awarded for a number of reasons
and there were lots of draws throughout the weekend...
Here are some of the lucky recipients
with their foil wrapped lucky dips....
Only the best wrapping paper for us Blog Girls...
Chooky with a bit of show and tell....just gorgeous!
Anita completed this shaggy quilt and it was just lovely....
She may have RSI from all the clipping but was
well worth the effort to get a great finish....
Our favourite Granny Heather finished this pretty table runner
and Miss Georgia(Baby Chooky)
 made an adorable Christmas ornament...
I was lucky to win 2 prizes on the weekend so I too can
make a pretty ornament with this pattern from Anni....
I also won a button pack that I shared with Googy Girl.....
I kept these bigger ones to use on the back of my cushion....

Chooky also made us all a cute little keyring....
Mine is holding a key to my "Studio" and
a key to my "Little Home Sweet Home"
My 2 favourite places to be....
I picked this little trinket up at The Home Patch on Saturday...
How could there not be good in the world when we have
friends who love to share such special weekends together....
What more could we ask for?

Kylie and Chooky causing havoc wherever they go...
Love these ladies to bits xxx
Much stitching and chatter in a perfect venue....

I spent my stitching time hand quilting(for the very first time)
my Lynette Anderson wall hanging that has
 been a WIP since 2011....
I have decided to make it into a large cushion for my Studio
day bed cause I am not a big wall hanging girl...
I have one more block to quilt and will then construct it
into a cushion cover and sew on the 9 hand painted buttons
 that compliment each block....
The photo doesn't really show the quilting but I am pretty
chuffed with my efforts for the weekend...
Thanks for stopping by and sharing in our weekend and thanks
to the ladies that contributed to making it such a fun time....
Another BIG THANKS to Peg and Dale for their generosity
and for CHOOKY who made it all possible....

Until next time, Happy Stitching

2014 Bathurst Blog Meet Part 3

After the serious shopping was done on Saturday we all
headed back out to The Vale and enjoyed a delicious lunch
 prepared by Vicki....
Fiona especially loved the chicken....
Then it was time for
'The Make it Bake it Fake it Swap"
We all had to bring along a present with one
 or more of that criteria....
Tickets were allocated and gifts were distributed....
Who came up with the great idea that we open them one at a
time and all watch what the others received????
That would be me and somehow in my wisdom I ended up
being the last to open my gift....
OH MUCH SUSPENSE......LOL!
(Thankyou Kylie for the instagram post)
And here we go around the table starting with Cooky....
Trish received my gift of a hand knitted washer and
a cake of soap from "The French Shoppe"....

And finally it was my turn....

And this is what I received from Chooky....
A paper pieced pincushion that will have pride
of place in my "Sewing Studio"
Far too flash for a shed!!!!
Key ring, hexi pattern and a cute little pink Chooky xx
Much excitement, gifts and laughter was shared by all....
By now I was ready for a Nanna Nap....
But I soldiered on until lights out and
the hand quilting continued for me....

Stay tuned tomorrow for my last post...

Until next time, Happy Stitching
