Jellywares Winter Yarn Club...2nd Project Finished

Jody from Jellywares was running a Winter Yarn Club, I missed out on signing up for the Autumn Club so was excited to be able to put my name down for the Winter one.....

I could choose knitting or crochet and since I haven't learnt to crochet yet I went with knitting...

There are 3 mail outs, one for each month of Winter....

I was keen to start my second project and decided to make the 22.5 degrees shawl that Jodie had suggested.....

It was slow going because the yarn

was thin and the needles only 3mm....

A couple of nights I nodded off and lost a few stitches so I am thankful for the variegated yarn because it hides a multitude of sins where I have picked the stitches up a little wonky....

I finally finished all of the rows and was getting concerned that my ball of yarn was getting very small, the shawl start with 3 stitches and ends with 289 so each row got longer and longer to knit....

Next step was to knit a scalloped border, I really was concerned that it wasn't going to turn out like the picture.....I think I had close to 400 stitches by the time I had knitted the border row.... 

next step was casting off and as I worked along the row the pretty little scallops emerged from the needles.....It really was exciting watching it come together and a real sense of achievement for trying something new and actually having it work out.....

This was the tiny ball of yarn that I had left
 from 1 Skein of Malabrigo Sock....

I was so very relieved that I didn't
run out of yarn on the last row.....

By this stage I think I had earnt myself a nice cup of tea...

Next step was to google how to block a knitted piece on Youtube....

So it was into the sink for a soak....

And then I laid out a towel on Miss Molly's bedroom
 floor and pinned to my hearts content....

This is where my shawl stayed for
 about 5 days to completely dry out....

Until.....Ta Dah!!! All blocked and ready for wearing....

The blocking really made it sit so lovely and flat
 and gave the points a nice pointed finish....

I have so enjoyed getting my Nanna on
 and doing some knitting again....

My 3rd Installment of the Winter Yarn Club has arrived but I will share that with you another time....
