Garden Urns

Wow! Where are the weeks going?
Over the last couple of weekends I have been working on
a little project at home, it all started 2 Saturdays ago when
I visited the garden centre and fell in love with a couple of
garden urns that I just had to have. Only problem was
how was I going to get them home? Well lucky for me
they look like the extra heavy concrete type but they are
a sort of fibreglass resin and still a bit weighty but not to
heavy for me to handle on my own. The man at the centre
helped me load them in the car one at a time and I
took them home and unloaded them......
Ha Ha look at me....feeling pleased with myself :)
Feels good to know if I want it, I can work hard and have it!
I also picked up 2 Star Jasmine plants....
One at home and a quick dash back for the second one!
This is where I have put them at the side of my pergola....
Originally I was going to plant straight into the ground and
wisteria was my plant of choice but isn't it a
woman's prerogative to change her mind?
I tossed up for a few days what type of mesh I would use
to train the plants up to the pergola, I had a couple of sheets
of this lattice down near the shed not being used
so I decided to see how it looked....
This was the fun part, time to use my jig saw for the first time...
It was gifted to me for Christmas from my cousin....
Lots of fun here for me, it worked
a treat and took no time at all...
I popped the lattice in the pots and let it sit for a couple of
days until I was certain that was the look I was going with...
The Jasmine will cover them as it grows and will also add
a bit more privacy on that side, I am looking forward to
tackling my privacy wall that will go on the left of this
picture in the holidays all going well....
Fast forward to last Saturday, I fixed the lattice at the top
and squared it all up and then had fun planting up my urns.....
I also added a little potted colour to fill in the base of them,
it should look very pretty when spring comes around....
The Jasmine looks nice and glossy and with the help of my urns
wont have a s far to grow before it is winding itself over the
top of my pergola...It should be lovely in a couple of years....
I hope you all have a lovely weekend.....
not sure what I will get up to today....

Until next time, Happy Stitching

Getting Creative with Washi Tape

I have this big bag of pegs that we used for the photo wall at
Molly's 21st and have been wondering what to do with them...
I had a little play with my Washi Tapes the other day....
I am thinking I will glue some magnets to the other side
so they can be used on the fridge, what do you think?
Maybe a new side line....
"Pegged on Peisley" Ha Ha!
I love Washi Tape, it is so easy to work with....

Until next time, Happy Stitching

7 years Bad Luck.....wah!

I walked inside from my Studio the other night to this!!!!!
My mirror that has been hanging on the dining room wall
for over a year had fallen off the wall and smashed to bits
almost taking out my laptop on the way....
It knocked my vintage scales down but they are unbroken,
my very expensive white bottle vase from Kmart was
 cracked like an eggshell :(
The hanger I used was for more weight than the mirror was and
hadn't come off the wall but the hook had bent down so it must
have been faulty and was slowly giving way until....CRASH!
I loved my rustic old mirror but it has now gone to the dump
because the glass was stuck on so tightly with silastic that I
couldn't get the glass shards off and didn't want to cut myself
or flick a bit in my eye so it's now gone :(
A sad day at My little Home Sweet Home....
Soooo Bring on the next seven years bad luck!!!!

Until next time, Happy Stitching

Wednesday Stitching with Alison

I love my Wednesday stitching nights with my friend Alison,
here she is working on a Christmas table runner from
Anni Downs new Christmas range.....
I managed to finish my Dresden quilt top the same night....
I have joined the backing and will be dropping it off to
Belinda Betts this afternoon, I am so looking forward to
 seeing this quilted and bound.....

Alison wanted her own design wall because I was hogging
mine.... the hide of her....Ha Ha!
I pinned some fabric to a piece of the foam
offcut that I have saved, she does look impressed!
She will be wanting her own cutting table next!!!!
Until next time, Happy Stitching

Laundry Makeover

Okay, so this will be a long process but I thought
I would share with you what is happening so far....
I recently purchased a condenser dryer and a wall
cupboard that houses an ironing board. The dryer can
not be hung on the wall because it is a condenser dryer,
not sure why but I best follow the rules....
This meant that my laundry layout was not going to be
very functional so I decided to try and sell my top
load washer that is only just 3 years old but not
 good for my space anymore....
This is what my set up looked like before with
the top load washer and no dryer....
Thanks to the power of Buy Swap and Sell
the washer was sold and ready for pick up....
The space doesn't look big enough
for that washer to have fit in....
My dryer arrived and I just sat it in there waiting
impatiently for my new washer to arrive, the washer
left Tuesday evening and we were without a washer
for 4 days so it didn't disrupt things at all....
My new washer and accessories arrived on Friday so
what's a girl to do while she is home alone
 on a Friday evening?
Jacky Mister had gone away for the weekend
so I decided to start setting it all up....
A bit of a reshuffle in the space and the base drawer
was ready for the brackets to be fitted...
I love a bit of DIY on a Friday...LOL
My feathered friend CHOOKY arrived for a flying overnight
visit so I put her to work because she was just in time for the
dryer to be lifted up and fitted to my growing stack....
Base drawer unit.....Tick
Washer.....Tick
Slide out shelf joining unit.....Tick
Dryer.....Tick
I then pushed the white melamine cupboard back into
the remaining space and it looked so wonky and uneven!
Talk about the "Leaning Tower of Peisley"
Hmm! What to do because that would have driven me mad!
Nothing tonight because it was time for Chooky and I to
head out for some pizza's and ciders, I think we had earnt them!

After Chooky left on Saturday morning I decided to tackle
the wonky cupboard problem and so I  popped a couple of blocks
under the left hand side and added a hanging rod between the
wall and the cupboard to hold it all nice and secure until the
next stage of the reno, that will see the cupboard and tub go
and a corner bench and cupboard unit built with a new sink....
My ironing cupboard is waiting patiently for my builder
friend that should be in town in a week or so and hopefully
he will get the sliding door sorted as well...
So much more room in there for activities!!!
I gave the washer and dryer a run on Saturday and the
good news is they both worked perfectly and were nice and quiet
and didn't rattle around at all so all in all a successful build....Yay!
The dryer is great, no moisture in the room at all, after the load
there is a water container that you just empty in the sink....
Brilliant!

Watch this space for my ever evolving laundry makeover....

Until next time, Happy Stitching

Hand Stitching Dresdens and Laundry Makeover

Hi there, I hope you have had a good week....
Mine has been same old same old at work, I think I am
suffering the mid term blues and am already counting
down the 5 weeks to the next holidays....
It may be because the last holidays were so busy planning
a 21st that I don't feel as though I have had one...
We have had some more cooler weather this week with snow
again on Wednesday, we had rain, wind, hail, sunshine, sleet
and snow all in one crazy day and that night on the way
home from stitching group we had a thick fog.....
Talk about all the seasons in one day!
I started hand stitching my Dresden's onto the background
blocks on Wednesday night and enjoyed a snuggle under a
quilt whilst finishing them off last night...
The colours are so pretty and I am really pleased with my
first ever Dresden's, I am sure there will be more to come....
6 in total! All stitched and ready to be sewn together....
I am hoping to get to that over the weekend, I was planning a
trip to Narromine for the weekend but my friend has been
called away to a funeral so I will enjoy a couple of days at
 home relaxing....As if!
My laundry has been in my thoughts a lot this week, I have
purchased a condenser dryer that is on it's way at the moment
and have been pondering the layout of my laundry when it
arrives. I also have a Robin Hood ironing cupboard that I
want to install on the wall.....
Well I don't ever seem to do things in halves and this has
now blown out to a full laundry remodel plan that I will share
with you another time involving a new front loader machine
and some custom made benches, the first job will be to remove
the plain door that is hinged and rehome the old original
panelled door that I removed from my lounge room
to the laundry so that all the doors in the house
match except the front and back....
It will be converted to a slider so that I can maximise the
space in there and I am considering hanging it as a barn
style door but am still in the planning stages at the moment...
I will also replace the handle when the time comes......
Watch this space!!!!
Definitely a new WIP......
I hope you all have a great weekend and find
time to fit some stitching and relaxing in at some time....

Until next time, Happy Stitching

Little Miss Hadley

Little Miss Hadley loves to visit Aunty Kate and
have a "Cup of Tea" Here she is enjoying one in
her very own little tea cup and saucer....
Too Cute!
She just loves it....
Another favourite thing to do is feed the Chickens and of
cause we had to take the teddies for a walk down to
the Coop in my vintage pram....
Look teddy there are Chickens and they go "book book"
This was the best when Hadley told teddy
to stand and wave to Aunty Kate!
Teddy had other ideas and decided to sit instead....
She melts my heart this little one....

Until next time, Happy Stitching

My Favourite Things Quilt

I have never been one for hanging quilts on the wall
because I much prefer to use them instead....
But how many quilts can a girl use at one time I ask you?
And this one is just too pretty to leave folded in a pile so
I have hung it from the picture rail in my hallway with
trouser hangers while I decide what type
of hanging device I will use here.....
It's a bit tricky getting a picture of it because it is in
the hallway, this is the view from my bedroom...
I think it needs to be a little lower when I hang it properly....
This will give you a bit of an idea of how my hallway looks,
not the best lighting there today I'm afraid....
I think maybe that wall has been screaming out for a quilt!
My Favourite Things Quilt designed by Anni Downs
and made by me with a few variations to make it my own....
2012 Stitch-a-Long organised by Chookyblue....
What do you all think?
Do you like it there?
What will I do for hanging?

Until next time, Happy Stitching Procrastinating...LOL

Charity Quilts for Dungog

I posted these quilts off to Julie in Dungog last week,
my friend Judy(no blog) from our stitching group
kindly donated them to the Flood Victims...
The first one is a scrappy full size quilt....
The second is an adorable cot size quilt that Judy
has made with applique and a quilt as you go
method, gorgeous happy colours....
And this is the flip side of the baby quilt...
Once again I would like to congratulate Julie on
her generous work organising these quilts for
needy people, such a lovely thing to do....

Until next time, Happy Stitching

Coffee Sacks

If I can't be sewing this week then I can at
least be dreaming about it...Ha Ha...
These are my awesome printed coffee sacks that I have
managed to source from one of the local coffee shops, I am
going to cut them up and construct them into some exterior
soft furnishings for my back patio/pergola area....
This vintage cot was a thrifty find and is going to be a
daybed/seat eventually and I plan to make up some
unique cushions for it...
I am on the hunt for an old cot mattress at the moment to use
for the seating cushion, I did price some foam from the foam
shop but may have to take out a second mortgage on the
house to afford it so I will have to be thrifty in my search
for something a tad cheaper....
I couldn't resist this cute cushion when I saw it in my
local Kmart the other day, perfect for a dreamer like me.....
Until next time, Happy Stitching Dreaming
