Harris Farm Markets so what was a girl to do.....
Make some homemade Strawberry Jam of course....
2 kilos yielded me 11 jars of deliciousness...
Jacky Mister has already taste tested
and given me his seal of approval.....

Quick & Easy Jelly Roll Quilt Tutorial

After a clean up in my sewing space I found
a project that I had shown you HERE....
This is a project that I saw on Chooky Blue's Blog earlier
in the year and I thought I would share it....
I am using Thimbleberries fabric.....
Step 1: Mitre the ends of one full Jelly Roll.....
Step 2: Randomly join all of the strips together
like if you were making binding......
You will end up with a pile that looks something like this.....
Can you believe that there are only 5 more seams to
sew and the quilt top will be complete.....
What! You don't believe me, just you wait and see....
Step 3: Press all the seams flat......
Step 4: Cut an 18 inch strip off one end only.....
This is important so the rows will join together at
different intervals and give a scrappy finish...
Step 5: Grab either end and sew the strips right side
together to form the first seam.....
At the end make a cut through the fold so it lays flat.....
This one will take the most time because it is the longest....
Step 6: Take both ends again and sew your second seam
with the right sides together to form the next row
and also cut through the fold at the end 4 rows wide.....
Are you getting the hang of it yet?
Step 7: Continue with the 3rd seam in the
same way until it is 8 rows wide....
Step 8: Repeat the process and sew the 4th and 5th
seams until you have 16 and then 32 rows...
Step 9: Trim the sides of the quilt top so they are even....
Ta Dah!!!! Cool huh!!!!
This is mine flapping in the breeze on the clothes line...
All that is left to do now is square up the
edges and quilt and bind as desired....
Or you may like to add some extra borders as well...
I am not sure how I will finish mine off yet....
ENJOY!!!!!
Not bad for a couple of hours work....

What A Mess!

This is my sewing space and it's a terrible mess at the moment....
As you can see it's small so I have to keep it organised.....
Miss Molly: Hey Marmee I think you need to clean up in here!
Marmee: DO YOU THINK!!!!!!!!!!
Can't she see that I am a busy Marmee with lots of projects on the go
at the moment and no time at all for cleaning up......*Grin*
I guess I had better give it a well deserved Spring Clean....

The World as it Should Be "Book Mark"

It is great living so close to Bathurst as I get to visit
"The Home Patch" on a regular basis.....
They have lots of fabric kits to match Anni's books
and patterns and they are very tempting.....
I have enough to start my own shop a small collection and would
like to complete some of these before I buy any more.....
*Grin*    I am not promising anything though.....
This is the bookmark from "The World as it Should Be"
I have traced the stitchery so it is all ready for stitching...
It is Cricket Season for Jacky Mister so this will
be a good project to take along with me.....
Until next time, Happy Stitching

Let the Christmas Stitching Begin!

With Christmas only 2 months away I have started
some projects for Gifts and Swaps.....
The first that I am going to share with you are the "Wine holders"
from Anni Downs' book "A Christmas Story.....
I made the Christmas quilt earlier in the year and
the book has lots more great projects.....
I have completed the hand stitching and made the handles
and am now ready to construct these two...
I will share lots more Christmas goodies and
progress over the next couple of weeks.....
Until next time, Happy Stitching

A bit of mending and some backing.

I really wasn't sure what to do with the mess I had made of my borders and I am still not sure if what I have done was the best option but it is done now and it's probably best if I don't dwell on it.....
I visoflexed a strip of fabric to the back
of the quilt where I had made the cut and then machine
zig zaged using a buttonhole setting over the cut...
Hopefully when it is finished I will be the only person who notices it....
This is the fabric I chose for the backing.....
It is from the Garden Song range that I used in the quilt.....
I have trimmed, joined and pressed the backing......
Now the big decision to hand or machine quilt?

SKOW Pin Cushion Finished

Who would have thought that this little sack of fabric
would be so fiddly and time consuming to create!
Stuffing it was the fun part because I could see a finish in sight.....
The stitchery detail is very cute.....
So there you have it all finished and ready to go complete with pins....
That is another finish for me from "Some Kind of Wonderful"...
Until next time, Happy Stitching

Miss Prudence

I would like to introduce you all to a very special friend of mine....
This is Miss Prudence and she is 12 and the daughter of
one of my close sewing buddies Alison....
In the school holidays I showed Miss Prudence the art of
Hexagon making and she is an absolute wizz at it.....
I am feeling a little proud of myself as I was convinced that I was an awful teacher and sewing Mum because I have not been able to interest my Daughter Miss Molly in the stitching world at all...
These are the lovely blooms that Miss Prudence has made so far
and she has more on the cutting table.....
Well Done Prudence I am so very proud of you....
Her sister called her "Mini Kate"which I think was adorable....
Until next time, Happy Stitching

That "Swear Word" Moment!

I was trimming the white borders on my Hexagon quilt
and as I got to each corner I used the rulers'
corner to get a nice square edge....
As I rounded my fourth corner I realised I had made
a terrible mistake and had cut it 4 inches from
the inner Hexi and not the outer Hexi.....
 What the  F%$#*
Oh dear what have I done!!!!!
Not Happy and that is all I have to say.....
