"Simple PLeasures" Top Complete!

Rows are all joined and fabric cut for inner borders....
Triangles are all sorted for outer borders......
After ironing them into place I then hand stitched
the 40 triangles to the outer borders....
The iron on interfacing made this job a lot easier
 and quicker than I thought......Yippee!!
Then I was back on my trusty Bernina sewing the final borders
onto the quilt top(Happy dance around the sewing room)
Ta Dah!!!!! Finished Quilt Top....
Because I doubled the size of this quilt it
is 84 inches x 70 inches which is a great size.....
It suits me better than a wall hanging as we like
to use as many quilts as we can in our house....
I am really happy with the colour combination.....
I am going to bind it in the same red as the inner border.....
I stitched together all of my leftover fabric........
To make a scrappy backing........
I didn't want to waste any of this great fabric that
lots of you have asked me who it is by........
It is "Cottage Charm" by Heather Mulder Peterson
for Henry Glass Fabric with some assorted dots.....

Now to see if Belinda can get it quilted before I go on retreat.....
I think I am pushing it but I will beg, plead, cry,
jump up and down, threaten, ask her nicely.....*Grin*

"Simple Pleasures" A work in progress!

After cutting lots of 6 1/2 inch squares from
 fabric and light weight interfacing.......

I stitched up lots of these....

Cut them on the diagonal and turned them so I had
lots of these triangles for my borders.....

I cheated and used iron on interfacing so they
would be easy to hold into place when I hand
stitched them to the borders later.....

Here they are all piled up after I finger pressed them all.....

Perfect Points and no turning over for applique.....
Gotta be happy with that!
Then there was lots more cutting of triangles to
sew to either ends of the rows of blocks......
Now I am off to sew all of the rows together.....
Getting closer to a finished quilt top (Insert excited look here.)
Until next time, Happy Stitching

Working on "Simple Pleasures"

I have been spending some time sewing
 these 4 patch squares together......

To make 20 of these......
I then sewed far too many 80 of these triangles on....
And ended up with these.......
I also finished stitching my 12 stitcheries to
the wool felt and then to the blocks......
I am happy with the result.....
The colours all look great together.....
I am now off to join the rows together.......
Until next time, Happy Stitching

"A Christmas Story" Back from the Quilter

I decided not to quilt my "Christmas Story" by hand
as I have a few things on the go at the moment
and just wanted to have a finish.....
I tried a new quilter and am a bit disappointed with the result.....
He has gone off track with some of the stitch in the ditch bits.......
He also quilted squares over my squares
where I had asked for a "X"......Duh!!!
Anyway I have stitched the binding on......
And made a hanging rod........
Now just need to hand stitch it all down and make a label.....
Here is a shot of the squares....What the!!!
They weren't even straight, I have unpicked them
all and will do something on them myself....
Until next time, Happy Stitching

Knitted Neck Warmer

A friend of mine gave me this great
pattern for this knitted Neck Warmer.....

I haven't picked up a pair of knitting needles for years
so I dug out my old needles and headed to
Spotlight where I got this lovely cream wool and buttons.......

I think I will put 3 buttons on mine when it is finished.....
Can't wait to finish it and wear it!!!!

Playing Around with "Simple Pleasures"

I have been having a play with my Simple Pleasures stitcheries and have decided to blanket stitch them to this wool felt and then stitch them to the bacground blocks with running stitch....
What do you think of that?

I think it should be effective.....
I was hoping to get this finished and quilted so
I could take it on retreat to Nowra in August.....
I think I may be pushing it!!!!!
I have made my thread choices.....
Now for some time to get stuck into it.....
Might need to burn the midnight oil for a few nights *Grin*

Another cushion for Nan

I made this cushion for my Nan for Mothers Day to match
the quilt that I had made her the previous year....
You can check out her quilt here:-

I used the border fabric to make a flange instead of a ruffle....

I found the pattern in a Homespun Magazine
and thought it would be perfect......

The embroidery detail is sweet.....
I stuffed it nice and tight to allow for squashing but  it is also
"too good to be used"
so sits on her bed with her quilt.....Gotta love her....

*Grin*....Just had to share this......
I painted it for her a long time ago and it hangs
above her chair in the loungeroom......
Not really much more to say as this says it all....
Love you Nan xo
Until next time, Happy Stitching
